That's interesting Ash! I'm getting this message on a cloudy (yet italian) monday morning and I can relate to Thor's grumbling like a lot. I have a conflict about "the voice"...as I am starting to think that we are indeed talking too much. Our voice is power - sure - and everybody has to be heard...but to what extent? "The voice" used to equal to "people's power" and used to be feared...Government and Politics used to silence such voice, meaning they feared it. But now? Isn't everyone talking? Hasn't the voice become just another tool government and politics uses? Specially when fascist idiots with an orange wig yell nonsense...are we really be able to make our voice louder than theirs? Or are THEY using our voice just to create enough noise to play their game? they use their voice just to kickstart a reaction in us, so that they can read how to best ass-rape us with a fondue fork (always making as we asked for it) by our noisy reaction. Everyone screams like they're somebody on socials and internet, craving for everyone else's approval to exist...while we are meant to be all "nobodies"...and that's what makes us all equals under one single mankind banner. Maybe we should speak more, by talking less and digging deeper. Your 5 mins video made me think for 1 hour straight, so the balance sheet is definitely in your favor - that's exactly what I like and what I mean. What if SILENCE is our deadliest weapon, till we strengthen our voice enough by tools like your inspiring video? If you're nerd enough you will get the "Dovahkiin" sprinkles in my speech (FUS-RO-DAH!). Too much on a monday morning. Need my (ESPRESSO) cup of joe before I unravel further. Or start a revolution. XD
Stefano!!! I SO enjoyed reading your post. Yes! First, good morning. Get that coffee! I have mine. :) You're 100% correct that "everyone is talking" or perhaps more accurately, shouting at each other. I am intrigued by what you said "..hasn't the voice become just another tool government and politics uses?...[...] OR are THEY using our voice just to create enough noise to play their game? [...]"
Yes, I agree with that. We are all in our own channels of hearing what aligns with our biases, and yelling at the perceived 'other' for not aligning. Our adrenaline is on fire such that we can't pause to engage a person from a place of human connection. This perception of the 'other' keeps us forever separated.
You also said: "Maybe we should speak more, by talking less and digging deeper. [...] What if SILENCE is our deadliest weapon, till we strengthen our voice enough by tools like your inspiring video?"
This is gold.
Silence has enormous power.
It gives a person time to observe, to consider, to breathe, to sift above the noise, to spend time in deep contemplation without getting bogged down in a fight or flight response or a battle of the ego. It allows a person to examine how their own ego flairs up and is triggered. It's what you're talking about I feel when you say "digging deeper"...allowing the voice to strengthen in it's silence. And when ready, and willing, a person can speak words that heal, and uplift. Words are magic, and can be used to uplift or tear down...those who are impeccable with their word bring light into the world.
I re-read a chapter from "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz this week titled "Be Impeccable with your word." It's all about this very subject. Here's a couple passages from his website:
"The word exists because of a force that we call life, intent, or God. The word is the force; it is the intent, and that’s why our intent manifests through the word no matter what language we speak. The word is so important in the creation of everything, because the messenger starts to deliver messages, and the entire creation appears out of nowhere."
"Impeccability of the word is so important because the word is you, the messenger. The word is all about the message you deliver, not just to everyone and everything around you, but the message you deliver to yourself."
The point is we have to spend time with ourselves in contemplation, and as ask ourselves if we are using our voice to uplift and heal, or are we using it to destroy. It's so challenging not to become a destroyer with our word, when we see the some of the awful things happening in the world right now. That is the challenge.
So many gems in here, friend! Thank-you for your post. I'm honoured that my 5-minute video made you think for an hour. I'm going to be thinking all day about this now thanks to your response.
...AND no, sheepishly, I admit, I am not "nerd enough" (yet) to get Dovahkiin and FUS-RO-DAH...but I have the google...and OMG hahah!! Thank-you for this delightful Dragonborn meme! I went down a rabbit hole of FUS-RO-DAH compilations! For others: "Fus Ro Dah" is a phrase from the video game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" which translates to "Unrelenting Force" in the Dragon language, essentially meaning a powerful push or shove used as a dragon shout to knock enemies back..."
